Terengganu - Paka - Kemaman - Kuantan

One of the fun event in the Terengganu Trip is even we did not plan to have a BBQ at sea side but we can able to get full equipment set for barbeque and fresh sea food, chicken wing, ....etc...
Which we can found in the market at Kemaman town.
In the morning, I feel relax with the cool air and get refresh when the wind blow as we woke up in 4.30am just wanna to catch up the sunrise. Unfortunately before the sunrise, suddenly rainning. We back to the blue wooden house (our hostel, a almost 40 years old house). It is difficult to get a old traditional house in KL area.
After the rain stop, we bought all the things and foods that we need for tonite BBQ dinner at Taman Temasik Beach.
We had a great fun and enjoy the BBQ section.
The next spot after the dinner, we moved to Petronas Plantation in Kemaman. The plant just like a super huge "light castle". In the night, we can see the view from far when allthe building lights is on.
It is really a great holiday i spend with my lovely colleagues, with we ended the trip by full of fresh and cooked keropok lekor(specialties in Terengganu) in our car.

Day Trip to Kellie's Castle 2

William Kellie Smith is a planter from Scotland and of course, he is owner of Kellie's Castle and the mystery castle was built by himself.
There is only one reason why he built the castle, because of great love, special for his lovely wife, Agnes.
He came to Malaya in year 1890, then he was started his business with Alma Baker.
They were making profits from planting rubber trees in Perak. He met his wife, Agnes in his home town, Scotland. After years passed, their lovely daughter, Helen and son, Anthony were borned. After their youngest son, Anthony's birth, Smith was decided to start his dream to built castle for his wife.

Terengganu - Paka - Kemaman - Kuantan

This is unforgettable "New Year Trip" to Terengganu, Paka. Paka is a small fisherman village instead my colleague's hometown.

We have 6 of us driving to Terengganu. Our first meal in Terengganu is Nasi Minyak, Nasi Dagang and Kopi O (my favourites black coffee) , Teh Ais (Ice tea). Not forget about the boiled eggs.....WE FINISHED ALL 15 EGGS that we ordered. According to the waiter, the eggs were freshly collected from the farm (but the size of egg is slightly smaller than the regulary we ate.)
When I step into the village, I can strongly smell the "dried fish". If you like to eat it you will say "what a aroma is"....if you are not better you spray your lovely fragrance first.
The village makes me feel calm, peaceful...... I love kampung feel. Out of town, isolated from crowded, traffic jammed.........

The Little Nyonya

The Little Nyonya is Singapore Drama, which a touching story about a girl borned in Malacca and storyline is rolling between peranakan family untill to the fourth generation.

After this drama to the air, impact to public know more about baba nyonya. Sudden, a lots of Nyonya restaurant flow in the Malacca street and city.

Nyonya food is one of the historical attractive to tourist and visitors all over the country to come to Malacca.

Combination of Chinese and Malay foods is artificial cooking in Nyonya food, which uses generous amount of spices, coconut milk and sambal belacan to enhance the taste of food.

(Picture: Nyonya dumpling)

We can choose from Restoran Bibik Neo located at Jalan Merdeka, Restoran Nyonya Makko in Jalan Melaka Raya. The Peranakan Delight located at Jalan Laksamana, opposite Christ Church is also another choice for Nyonya restaurants in Melaka.
We can actually walk to survey our own along the Jonker street as well to get a best place for Nyonya food, one of the famous restaurant is "Nancy's Kitchen".

Day Trip to Port Dickson

I have been there when I was in primary school. The last time I visited to Port Dickson was I finished my Diploma in Secretary.

I can't refresh my memory, the beach is clean but not the water......(every morning there was cleaner pick up all rubbish on the beach by his excavator!!)

Nevertheless, is a good place for relax, family gathering.

The most wonderful was the dinner, the sea food is really fresh and delicious.
It was a difficult to find the place if you do not direct by the local people there. The restaurant located near Lukut and deep inside to a small village.
Which most of the residence are fisherman.

Day Trip to Malacca

After we check out from Bayu Beach Resort, Port Dickson, we thinking of what going to have for our lunch today. A fast flash over my mind.....Malacca Nyonya food, one of my favourities...

Me and my family no doubt drive directly to the South. About 2 hours journey, we reached there safely.

We direct head to Jonker Street and looks for Nancy's Kitchen, a tranditional and originaly authentic nyonya food found in Malacca which just opposite of "Geography Cafe" & next to "Eleven Portuguese Food Restaurant".
Unfortunely, the restaurant was full house, then we switch to the portuguese food.
I was dissapointed of the food which under expected........nothing special!!
But there were good things is, I found nyonya kuih muih 100% made by "bibik".......just right along the Jonker Street. We pack a lot of difference variety and sit down in a 50's old chinese coffee house with their specialties, Ice kacang, pineapple juice and barley ice.

Bukit Tabur

Bukit Tabur one of the hill i intend to challege long time ago, as I advise from experienced hiker you must get ready your self before start your first step to do so.

In fact, the rugged terrain makes us need a experienced trekker to bring us to the top!

In paper, stated there was incident happened, a 51-year-old man slipped and tumbled down some 30m. Thanks to bushes that cushioned his fall, he got away with just light injuries. In March, two medical specialists, both experienced trekkers, plunged to their death from about 200m high.

RELAXING IN PARADISE ISLAND - KOH SAMUI

Massage can ease tiredness.....relax and release stressfullness.

Thai Massage, I never try the massage neither I am in Malaysia.

I was curious if the masseurs is very rough/rude, I will not stand for the painfull!

On the contrary, they are gentle and using various of techniques to apply pressure with their knees, elbow and feets as well as their hands.

The service charges is reasonable and worth. Even you can get a full package of massage just to pay 200 Thai Bath.

After first trial of the Thai Massage, I was crazy about it so much till I visit to the massage centre every morning onwards before I back to Malaysia.

Every women love shopping, I am no exception. We went to Nathon and Chaweng, there are wide selection of handmade traditional souveniers and cloths in the market along the road.

While you chosen stuff you like to have it, REMEMBER BARGAIN TO GET A LOWEST PRICE!

For me, shopping is a activity that can release my tension.

I am think that Koh Samui is not a best place to shop but is a best place for leisure, relax and enchance natural resource island.

Cameron Highlands - Day 2 Evening

Right after the ingredients were prepared, we commenced with the cooking competition with 2 members representing their families.

The competition begin with each representatives choosing a card. Each card states the type of ingredient which the participant will choose from. And with that, the representatives are required to whip up fantastic dishes!

At the end of the competition, the losing team will get to clean up the kitchen by washing the utensils while the winning team gets the BIG prize!

My eldest aunt won the competition with her fried 'Kailan with anchoves' and 'Mushroom soup'. Although these 2 dishes were not compatible as a combination, she still walked away with by beating the rest of the participant. Simply because her culinary skill were that marvelous! Great job Aunt!!

Everyone of us had have good time during the competition. We laughed and joked about each other's dishes. Some of us even tried to sabotage each other's dishes by eating the main ingredient. I bet i'm going to miss the fun time!

Immediately after the dinner, we went on with the barbecue session. There were chicken wings and sausages. Beers and other beverages were served. And you bet we ended with a bloated stomach!

The whole episode finally came to an end on the afternoon of day 3. But i'm already thinking of the next trip! Can't wait any further!

Cameron Highlands - Day 2 Morning

Day 2 began at this medium-sized farm owned by an old couple. The farm is cozy and everything else were simple. There were barns and other usual tools. But there's also a fatty dog who greeted us upon our arrival!

As soon as we entered the farm, we separated into 2 groups and started working.

During the session, i learnt to dig into trenches and planting the seeds. I also had the chance to help the rest by learning the proper way of watering the dug trenches. Everything were so tedious and i bet we all had fun working as a team!

The children were so happy collecting the strawberries and mini tomatoes in small baskets. They couldn't wait for a second to eat them directly as it looked really fresh! And they were also sweet and tasty as soon as we put them into our mouth =)

As soon as we finished the work at the farm, we went back to the old couple's kitchen and begun out cooking. The vegetables were really fresh and the quality couldn't be better. Everyone were on high spirit that we ate up everything on the lunch table!

We were so grateful to have met the old nanny and her lovely husband. They were to hospitable to us! I bet we won't be able to meet such friendly and kind people elsewhere!

We shop around the market, we bought a lot of vegetable, fruit, and fresh mushroom.

We also visited to plantation of "Boh-Tea", we bought few packets of tea leaf.
Before the day dark, we go back prepare for our special dinner.

Jungle Trekker!!

FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE MALAYSIA

I love hiking and jungle trekking.

FRIM is the best place for amateur trekker as the baby step to trek training.

Over the weekend, my colleagues and i drove to Kepong; where our first hiking experience took place.

After we having some light breakfast, we made our way to the start point, which is at one of the hill. After having some stretching exercises to warm our body up, we started walking slowly up the hill. The climate is cool and the air is fresh; i couldn't stop myself from enjoying the breeze and smell of the jungle decays.

After a good 40 minutes trail, we reached the canopy walk point. There is a 200-meters long walkway suspended 30 meters above the ground. Beside it were greenery and lush tree-tops. We were then advised to make our way slowly and orderly, with each other at least 3 feet away from one another. And yes, NO RUNNING ON THE TRAIL!

Then, we continue our route down to hill for another 30 minutes before retuning to the start point.

At the end of the session, we believe strongly and unanimously that we all need intensive training to pull up our socks!

*whooorf* Tired but the trip was indeed awesome!

Sunshine Day @ Pulau Ketam!!

2nd Day @ Pulau Ketam

Ring....the alarm clock rang at 5am, we woke up early in the morning to catch a glimpse of sun shine.

We made a move fast to get our bicycle and drove tru to the bridge at the end of the village. My friend told that is a best spot to see the sun rise.

I am heartfelt grateful and touch when seeing the sun shine arise up to the sky.

We returned the bicycle back to owner, a short walk to jetty, there is a old man selling traditional kuih-muih, kuih coci and onde-onde, all are home made "Nyonya Kuih", we then bring to a hawker stall and have our breakfast.

Not only the sweet dessert, we ordered Fried Lala and oyster Pancake (specialties of Pulau Ketam) as well. It was a "heavy" breakfast, but never the less with hot creamy kopi (coffee).

After the meal, time for us to check out and return to KL.
